CanChew CBD gum

A few weeks ago, I received a sample of CanChew™ gum in the mail. The company sent me a pack to try and review. Instructed to chew one piece a day for 45 minutes or longer for best results, I emptied a pack of 8 pieces in 9 days. (Thanks to my new “mommy memory,” I forgot one day.) According to the brand’s website, “CanChew™ is the first hemp CBD-packed gum in the world.” CBD, or cannabidiol, is a component of cannabis that’s touted with many health benefits. I know what you’re thinking. No, this gum will not get you high. CBD is non-psychoactive, so you get the medical benefit, without the euphoric feeling that comes from marijuana consumption. And the best part is, it’s legal. The CBD used in CanChew™ is derived from carefully-cultivated hemp plants, rich in CBD, with only trace amounts of THC. In this review, I’m going to cover my personal experience with CanChew™ gum as a consumer, including its health effects, taste & texture, ingredients and price.

Health Effects

Due to FDA regulations, CanChew™ can make no claims about the health benefits of its product or the ingredients therein. So I had to do my own research to find out what to expect when chewing this gum. Here are some of the benefits of CBD I found being touted online:

  • Pain reduction
  • Stress relief
  • Anxiety relief
  • Anti-depressant
  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Muscle spasm relief
  • Protection from neurodegenerative disease

Honestly, I didn’t really feel different when chewing the gum, but I didn’t expect to. I’m not one who normally feels the effects of health supplements, probably because I take so many of them already and practice healthy eating and drinking habits. I did notice that the past week has been a bit less stressful for me, but I’m not sure if it was the gum or the fact that my workload is not as heavy as it normally is. Either way, for a health advocate like me, protection from neurodegenerative disease (which seems to run rampant in the USA today) makes it worth consuming on a regular basis, even if you can’t feel its effects right away. Since this is a gum, chewing it is also great for oral health.

Taste & Texture

CanChew™ gum tastes pretty good to me, especially considering it’s all natural. It did lose its sweetness pretty quickly, but I was still able to chew it for 45 minutes or longer without wanting to spit it out. It has a mild, fresh minty flavor. When you first begin to chew it, it’s tough to break it in, but once you do, it feels and tastes like a normal piece of mint-flavored gum. I couldn’t taste hemp at all, which, for me, is a good thing.

Ingredients

I used to chew gum all the time. Then I found out that most gums contain chemical ingredients and artificial sweeteners,  and I stopped. I was very pleased to learn that CanChew™ gum is all-natural, non-GMO, vegan and kosher. There are no artificial sweeteners. The ingredients are: gum base, sorbitol, xylitol, isomalt, natural flavor, vegetarian magnesium stearate, hemp oil, silicon dioxide and stevia extract. Nothing in that list raises a red flag for me, and what’s even better is the fact that you get 10mg of CBD in each piece. I did some research on hemp supplements made by other brands, and usually, a concentrated bottle of CBD-containing hemp oil yields 3 mg per serving. With CanChew™ gum, you’re getting more than 3 times that per piece, so you can chew it once a day and get your daily dose of CBD in less than an hour.

Price

One pack of 8 pieces is priced at $40. When I first saw that, I was taken back a little. $40 seems outrageous for a pack of gum, right? That’s $5 for one piece of gum! But then I remembered that each piece yields a 10-mg dose of CBD and that helped to put it in perspective. You can buy 96 pieces for $300, which ends up being around $3 and some change per serving. If you were to buy a bottle of concentrated CBD-containing hemp oil online, you’d pay around $1 per serving. But each serving contains only 3 mg of CBD. A piece of CanChew™ gum contains 10 mg. So you’re getting 3 times the amount of CBD in a piece of gum. If you think about it, that really only amounts to $1 per (3-mg) serving of CBD, so price-wise, CanChew™ is comparable.

As stated on the website, if you were to get the 10 mg found in one piece of CanChew™ gum from a health food store, you’d have to consume five 8-oz. bottles of hemp seed oil, which would cost you around $40. From that perspective, you’re definitely getting a better deal with the gum!

Would I purchase CanChew™ gum myself? If money was no object, and I considered CBD oil to be an everyday necessity in my healthy lifestyle routine, I would. I’m glad to have had the opportunity to try it, and perhaps, one day, it will become a necessary part of my health regimen. For now, I’ll recommend it to anyone who suffers from pain, inflammation, anxiety or neurodegenerative disease as a healthy and more affordable alternative to prescription medication treatments.

  1. Hello Thank You for this excellent review on this Can Chew product, I am looking for an edible or chewable hemp oil product (since I do not smoke) that would help eliviate my constant joint pain and muscle tension leg problems, and need to get off this deadly regieme of prescribed medication for it. . Yes this chew seems a bit expensive but when you broke in down in comparison with the other products, it did make more sense. Thank You for your time in reviewing this product and talking about it to 1st timers such as me Lili K.

  2. i’ve yet to try the product! ordered it dec 26 and it is jan 27 now. have called twice and received two different answers. needless to say, i’m not impressed with their service….considering the price too!! feel frustrated and hope it will be worth the wait. any others out there?

    • Sheila, I’m sorry you’ve had such a frustrating experience! That does seem like a long time to wait. I went to their website to see if I could get in touch with someone for you, and it looks like they’ve changed things quite a bit since this review. Now there’s a video that auto-plays as soon as I get to the site, and I don’t see an easy way to contact support… I hope things work out well for you and it’s worth the wait! Thanks for commenting. 🙂

      • thanks for your efforts. called again—told me they have “expedited” my order and i should have it in a week. hope so. i’m very motivated cause it would be a godsend if it is effective. thanks again. sheila ps: your family is lovely!

  3. I have no complaints with canchew. Long lasting mint flavor and does not become a hard chewing gum. Day two and will keep you posted with results.

    • Okay, I’m serious when I say something about canchew works. I’m diabetic and have noticed a difference in my leg pain. But, it’s only been nine days… so, I will be honest with you it’s working. Will keep you posted 🙂

  4. I have chronic pain in my foot/toes following a bunion surgery. It is always stiff and sore. Rehab has had so-so impact, and following rehab, its very painful. I was walking with a limp and always seemed to notice an ache in my right toes. Started chewing the gum in mid-December. 2 pieces per day. Without even noticing, I was out walking with my dog and realized I had no toe pain. It took 10-14 days, but after that, my foot has been fine – no pain, swelling down and getting better range of motion.

I went off the gum late in January/early Feb (no reason… lazy I guess, forgot to re-order) and the effects of the old toe showed up again – pain, stiffness. I reordered about a week ago and its starting to be better again.

    This stuff works.

  5. Dear Selwa,

You can buy Canchew on Ebay for $45. This is for 32 pieces and free shipping. This does get the price way down! The company that I ordered from has 100% plus responses. I just ordered yesterday and waiting for my order. I expect it this week.
    John
